Ok, so here is the thing. I have never been good at keeping diary or journaling or any type of consistent personal writing. I have spent a good majority of my life "writing", but this was generally in the form of papers, case studies, case notes, essays, and most recently a clinical research paper (that's some serious writing, let me tell you!). So I guess if I am looking for an excuse for not writing (and I obviously am looking for one!) I never had/made the time to do it.
So now I finished grad school (alive - which is a miracle) and started a whole new chapter(s) of life. I think it would be cool to document it. And by cool, I mean cool to me and maybe my parents? (ha - because they are supposed to think everything you do is cool. I am pretty sure that is their job).
So here we go, I will give you a quick synopsis of the last 25 years.
I am AZN.
I was adopted from Korea
I was greeted by my parents (Hot Rod and Ginger Snap)
also by my sister (she tried to kill me because I was too cute... don't worry - we are best friends now!)
I asked for a drink of water right in the middle of my baptism (Hey, I was thirsty! And hello, all who are thirsty.....)
I worked at Subway in HS (because I think you HAVE to work a fast food gig once in your life).
I failed my first semester of college.
I went to Community College, then undergrad, then did grad school in a year (and graduated with honors from each - thus proving sometimes you take a digger, but pick yourself up without looking like too much of an a$$.
I got my first professional gig, got married and moved in with my husband (all in 1 week, I don't mess around).
Bringing us to present day.
So here's the deal:
What do I do now? Seems to be the question of the time. What do I do with all this free time?
Well, I sleep a little more (but not really because my husband snores) I run a little more (but not really because it is the snowiest winter in MN in years and I only run outside) I quilt a little more (but not really because I don't have a good space to do it in).... you get the drift.
But here are a few things I want to do this year...
1) Sleep more
2) Run more - specifically run a half marathon
3) Hand quilt a baby blanket (because my friends are starting to bless me with babies!)
4) Grow in my faith
5) Read the bible more
6) Go to the History Museum
7) Go to Social Work Day at the Capital even though it is not required anymore.
8) Be more diligent in writing my politicians
9) Take on more responsibilties in life (work, church, marriage)
10) Listen to the back cassette tapes of my Dad's old old old sermons (because hello, they are cassettes after all!
11) Go to the lake more
12) Practice the piano
13) Take more pictures
14) Learn to paralell (parallel - yeah that is it, maybe I need to learn to spell it first) park my car and drive in reverse in a straight line
15) Buy a St. Kate's Alumna sweatshirt
16) Go dancing
17) Go to a wedding without being IN it
18) Get my wedding dressed cleaned and figure out what to do with it
19) Connect with old friends
20) Make more friends
21) Redefine my worship comfort zone
22) Take a trip (not functional like "going home" or "visiting someome"
23) Take a road trip
24) Go camping more (I have all the stuff, I just don't do it).
25) Sneak candy into a movie
26) Think more about having kids
27) Enjoy being a newlywed
28) Don't worry so much (Matthew 6:34)
29) Do more fun little things for my husband (I used to be better before we got engaged/married)
30) Get my hair cut more than just 3 times (like I usually do......)
31) Dye my hair
32) Cut my hair off for Locks of Love. So really, I better dye it after I cut it off
33) Defeat Angry Birds!
34) Keep up my itunes better
35) Stay passionate about social justice
36) Watch more documentries
So here is just a little list I rattled off the top of my head... I basically want to change it up, do more, be more, see more...etc. If you want to come along on the journey and read my ramblings I guess this is your invitiation.
Also, if you are wondering where the title of my blog came from, it is a quote from Gandhi (I am a FAN, I would "like" him on FB). "My life is my story" - I want to make it something people would like to read.
